We went to a birthday party today for our local community centre. It would probably be more correct to term it an anniversary celebration, but to all the children present it was a birthday. What a nice community celebration!Free hotdogs, free cupcakes, fun games to try in a beautiful sunny courtyard, and....pop. Not water. Not milk. But pop - and Mumma said yes they may have some. Because pop is a sometimes treat and parties are the perfect time to enjoy this sugary indulgence.
The most fun part of the party, aside from face painting and treats, had to be learning to make tissue paper lanterns ready for a neighbourhood festival of light coming up at the end of the month. Each of my four made one, some with more help than others of course. They're drying on a shelf at the moment, ready to finish tomorrow when the glue is well and truly dry. I'll post instructions and photographs when my eager young artists are finished.
