Music for a newborn angel

Listening to this CD my husband made has been a great comfort to me as I mourn the stillbirth of our son.

Yesterday was a month. A month without our new boy. I'm packing for our move, not happily busy and overwhelmed with a newborn in a sling as I'd anticipated. Instead, I'm packing with a heavy heart, miserable but trying to be strong and still bewildered that this healthy beautiful full-term baby is gone from us. Instead of nursing him and loving his little fingers and toes, we're looking at cremation urns and trying to find one that fits the ashes of not a premie, not a child, but a newborn.

Here are the songs my music-loving husband collected into a special CD for baby George Patrick Andrew. I listen to it over and over. The children all love the Yellow Submarine best and it gives me joy to hear them sing along to their littlest brother's special music. I weep as I listen to Brothers and the lovely Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy) song by John Lennon is especially poignant.

I love you, baby George. Your devoutly Catholic mumma lifts you in prayer countless times each day. Daddy, the self-described Christmas & Easter kind of churchgoer, has made you this beautiful gift of song and we all think of you when we hear any of these selections. I think of the nine months you listened along with us to all kinds of music as I rubbed my growing belly and dreamt of our future with you. Of how active you were during and after the Great Big Sea concert we took your brothers to see. I wish you could have heard me sing to you as I held you in my arms.
