Gender differences

"Ets-tuse me Taren," says my son's little friend politely after going through the two big toy drawers upstairs and the entire toy box in the play room downstairs. "But where are all the princess things?"

She was so cute, so earnest, I had to really try not to laugh. She's from a family of three very girly-girls with one brother who spends much of his time playing ball or biking in their yard. She was incredulous that we have only one sorry hand-me-down princess dress for our baby girl and that my three boys actually prefer lego and blocks and cars to princess things. So does their sister for now I might add.

We started to bake cookies. Both boys and girls were delighted.

Children make the most interesting observations and comments.

Hi violinhunter. Thanks for your comment! I'm always amazed by what children say and what they notice.
