Berry sweetness

I love blackberry picking with my brood. It's fun to watch them eat as much as they can pick, although I was pleased to see the older two boys fill their containers almost completely before we left our nearby picking spot this morning. Baby girl loved picking her own berries and was completely absorbed in filling her cup and then emptying it before starting all over. So cute all stained purple!

We're home and sadly only my berries made it in the door. The older boys munched all of theirs on the way home, with help from the younger two. I have enough berries for one batch of our annual blackberry jam, which means of course more berry picking in the days ahead. I'm guarding my pail of berries as I type this because the boys do so love their blackberries!

We were curious to know what this webby stuff is on much of this year's crop (see picture below): Is it a fungus or some sort of spider webbing?? We couldn't tell. But the pickings are slimmer this year because of whatever this is.

I think it's mould from too much rain.

So a mold?? That would make sense....

I love your blog btw. You crack me up entirely....My cousin is an ob-gyn from McGill (now in Toronto). She's not a mum yet but I'm going to pass along your blogsite to her. Think she'll enjoy it!
