Making the most of summer

Every summer the weeks seem to fly by and it's suddenly September. I look back over what we've done and always, always think of the things I had intended for us to do that we haven't done. So now that we're nearly halfway through this summer, we each took time to think of the top three things we want to do this summer and put them on one page, which is hanging in our kitchen now. I thought it would be a prettier page, all decorated and illustrated, but my boys are minimalists and happy to just record the nitty-gritty.

It's been fun to see what was important to each boy as they talked over what their three items would be (G-man - getting out and about; Book'em - food related topics recurring theme; my little Monkey man - all over the map). The boys then made a list of three things for their baby sister, who at 20 months can't really articulate for herself her own wish list. Very sweet! They were thoughtful about their selections for her, each choosing something that she really would enjoy. My husband thought our "Summer 2008 Bucket List" was a bit lame but we're happy with it.
