I offered my boys a freezie this afternoon as we sat outside after a busy morning of swimming lessons and then taking a 97-year-old neighbour to the bank and library.
Book’em, my six-year-old who has never been known to turn down anything chocolate or sweet, responded nicely, “Mmm. No thanks, Mum.”
I was very surprised and said, oh, okay. Wondering if our focus on veggies and fresh fruit had brought him to embrace healthy eating.
He paused, then continued: “I’d rather have one of Pauline’s popsicles.”
Pauline, our neighbour, is a wonderful grandmother who gave the boys all fabulous multi-flavour popsicles yesterday with her grandson.
Ahhh. Of course. Mum’s bitty freezies pale in comparison to that kind of icy goodness.
