Prayer for twin angel babies

Our eldest son's friend's family is marking the birthday of his twin baby brothers today, but they're not there for the cake and candles. These little ones were born over a month early this date last year and despite all best efforts did not make it.

The family is Philippino and in their culture, his mother told me today, they will celebrate their deceased little ones' birthday this year, and the anniversary of their death next year. She spent the day mourning and grieving her little boys today as she cooked a birthday feast, which makes my heart just ache for her sorrow and empty arms. I can't even begin to imagine the depth of such sadness.

Particularly poignant to me is that her little boys were due the same time as our baby girl. And yet this lovely woman is so generous to me and my children, sharing with me her sorrow of her lost babies but so loving with my little daughter.

She had her husband deliver a vast amount of delicious home-cooked food to share with our family tonight. She said cooking all day was her therapy and it makes her happy to think of our children sharing in this birthday meal.

We said a prayer for them and for their little angel babies, wishing peace and healing for this family at such a trying time.
